I have been overwhelmed with all of this Foundation stuff so I went down to Fay's office this morning and asked her how she was doing with it? Kay, I'm with you one thousand percent on all of it. I love doing it. I have done better with you than I ever have before you, and my real-estate business is doing better without me being there, my people are working harder without me than ever before. You have spare office space, would you like to hire more help? I have thought about it and I think I will. You can charge everything to the foundation and also I would like to have all the rental property appraised to true value in this market. We may want to sell some or all of it. We need to know cost of maintenance compared to profit and to see what needs to go and what we need to keep. I understand, You will have profit and loss charts on everything in about two weeks. I will have them on your website when they are ready. Maybe we need to know what the bare property is worth without the buildings. Do you want to know what the bare land is worth for the deeds we have? No not yet, we may be selling those separate.
Fay I am thinking of flying to New York for a few days and coming back Thursday or Friday. I have no problem with that. Jenny can do the paper work at her desk there and fax it all to you here and You can file it all and get off the ground with the Foundation. Do you Have the Key to Mr. Shields house? I want to go and look around. It is our house now. Can I come along? Sure...Where is Joe. She called him. We need you Babe. We walked to the car and he arrived on the elevator.   Hello Joe, we're going to the Shields residence. Joe unlocked the door and we walked in. Mr. Shields was sitting at the table, Laying across the a note pad. I pulled it out. There were several pages of instructions for me. Things he wanted me to know and do for him . I tore off the pages and handed them to Fay. Joe called the police and we started looking around. I looked through the drawers in the dressers and night stands in the two bedrooms. They were full of medicines and  nine millimeter hand gun in a holster. I handed it to Joe. Do whatever you want with this. He walked to the car and put it under the seat, and came back in. There were six rifles in the closet and I told Joe to put them in the trunk, and he did. everything in the house was about the same when his wife and children died nothing looked newer than that. She had a set of sterling flat ware I wanted And Joe took care of it for me. Joe is there anything you want here? It's an old house full of old things. How about you Fay. Ditto to Joe Yes your both right. Joe When we Leave call an antique store that buys things and see if you can sell this stuff and keep what you can get.. Joe tossed the mattresses and found several hundred dollars that were long forgotten maybe by his son or daughter.
Joe straitened every thing up and Fay was looking through the book case. Joe some of the school books are from the eighteen hundreds and most if these early novels are first editions. There are several Jack London novels that were signed To my very dear friend, Donald Shields senior. from Jack London. He knew Jack London. Who is Jack London? Joe said.  Fay and I looked at each other You need to read those books. Who is he? Do you remember the movie "Call of the Wild"? He wrote adventure books and many are movies now. He founded The San Francisco Yacht club and traveled around the world several times. He was a very famous author. Some of the best real adventure books of all time. Ok, Ok I will take them. He put them in the car trunk and finally the coroner arrived with a detective and an ambulance
The detective Lewis asked us how we knew him. Fay told him she has known him for years and he knew he was dying and he had transferred his estate to Miss Brown. They checked his body over and put it on a travel gurney and took it to the ambulance and checked it again.  He took all of our ID information and asked, Do you know his next of kin? He has none, I was his most trusted friend, I said. Who will pay for his internment? I will, I will pay everything. That's good we will be calling you. Is that the Building they are calling the Tokyo Towers. Yes we have four floors of Japanese residents. They are designing electric cars. Well that's a good thing. He left before the ambulance. Can I take those books Kay? Sure you can, take anything you want. There are some boxes in the back. Joe and Fay cleaned out the book case and put them in the Limo to take to her place. We locked up and left.
We arrived home and unloaded everything. Fay gave me the notes that were under Mr. Shields body. We rounded up the crew and went to dinner at the hotel. We told every one that Mr. Shields had died. I told everyone that I was going to New York for a few days as soon as everyone else was ready, Cheering was heard out at the pool. We talked about Shields for awhile and coming back to San Diego in a few days. I want to know something Jenny. Are things fair for all the employees in New York? I would like to give my part to the employees. Jenny said ,that's sounds good to me too. I can move our corporation to San Diego and not be invested in New York. Are you girls good with that? They cheered louder than ever. I will tell everyone when we arrive tomorrow. Does everyone want to go tomorrow? Yes was the word.  Fay will you take care of it. Your tickets will be delivered by noon.......KB
